Mnemosyne
Earlier we discussed the plan to use software to help us
memorize material. The software I currently recommend using is
called
Mnemosyne
I've chosen this software for a variety of reason. First of
all, it's the software I used for a very long time. This means
I'm familiar with it. Second, it's free software which means
that everyone can use and extend it if they wish. It also runs
on a variety of systems (Windows, Linux, and Max OSX).
Installing Mnemosyne
I used to have a large section devoted to installing Mnemosyne
on various platforms, but lately it seems that the
documentation on the Mnemosyne website has improved greatly.
So instead I will simply provide a
link.
JLDrill: The Future
Some people who know me know that I am the author of another
similar tool called
JLDrill.
In the future I will be migrating this guide to using JLDrill.
JLDrill is being specifically written to be used for this
guide, and therefore has features that will work well with it.
However, it is still too immature to be used by the vast
majority of people right now.
If you have a techinical mind, please feel free to install
and play with it. I appreciate any feedback that you have.
Please keep in mind that installation is currently somewhat
difficult, so be warned. However, I will be happy to help
anyone who is having difficulty trying it.
